IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area announces
series of informational meetings for 2005 membership recruitment
5:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 20
10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 15

Pensacola, Fla.– IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area will host several informational meetings to explain the mission of IMPACT and to recruit membership for 2005. The next meeting will be Thursday, Jan. 20 at 5:30 p.m. at The PJC Downtown Center, Room 108, 418 W. Garden St., Pensacola. Women interested in joining are encouraged to attend. Other dates scheduled include a 10:00 a.m. meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at Gulf Power, One Energy Place; and Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 5:30 p.m. at the FIHMC (Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition), 40 S. Alcaniz St., Pensacola.

IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area is a group of women whose commitment is:
To know and serve the community
To collectively fund significant grants to charitable initiatives
To set an example of effective philanthropy

The organization’s concept is unique: recruit a minimum of 100 women annually, each donating $1,000 a year. Member donations are pooled together to make a significant grant to a worthy Pensacola Bay Area non-profit.

In it’s first year (2004), the organization had 233 women join. After site visits and other necessary due diligence, the group selected Habitat for Humanity and South Santa Rosa Interfaith Ministries as their recipients of $116,500 each.

“We are anxious to have women in our community who share an interest in effective philanthropy join IMPACT,” said Debbie Ritchie, the organization’s president. “By working together and pooling our resources, we can make a significant difference,” she said.

IMPACT vice-president Joan Bullock agreed. “IMPACT gives women the opportunity to come together to learn about community needs and to make a difference,” she said. “We are unlike any other group in our area and we want other women to share in this wonderful experience.”
