IMPACT 100
This all-women’s group is out to make a real difference
in the Pensacola area. This organization is out to find 100 women, who
will put up $1,000 each to fund a worthy cause. The group will then
review grant applications and award a $100,000 grant in October to one
of the many local non-profit organizations.
IMPACT 100 is an idea borrowed from Cincinnati where a similar group of women gave its first grant, $123,000, in 2002 to the Greater Oral Health Council for a free dentistry clinic. Last year, the same group gave $184,000 to Tender Mercies, a non-profit that provides apartments for more than 150 formerly homeless people, who had suffered mental illness.
IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area has a high-powered executive committee consisting of Carolyn Appleyard, Diane Appleyard, Belle Bear, Joan Bullock, Susan Bullock, Susan Cruz, Evon Emerson, Patti Hutto, Denise Ivey, Sharon Kerrigan, Mary Moulton, Ruth Orth, Donna Peoples and Debbie Ritchie.
They plan to find 86 women with hefty checkbooks to join their ranks by March 1. It will be exciting to see the impact this group of women will make on the community.
